BUTANOX M-50 VR Storage

Due to the relative instability of organic peroxides, there may be some quality loss after a period of time.
To minimize quality loss,Nouryon recommends the following for each type of organic peroxide:

High storage temperature (Ts max).

 

For Butanox M-50 VR 
Ts  max. = 25°C 

When stored under the recommended conditions, the Butanox M-50 VR can be stored for at least 6 months after delivery.Maintain within Nouryon's product specifications.

BUTANOX M-50 VR Thermal stability

Organic peroxides are thermally unstable substances that can undergo self accelerating decomposition. Self accelerating decomposition temperature SADT is the lowest temperature at which a substance may undergo self accelerating decomposition in its packaging for transportation. SADT is determined based on heat accumulation storage tests.

For Butanox M-50 VR                  SADT : 60°C

The heat accumulation storage test is a recognized test method for determining the SADT of organic peroxides (see "Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods - Manual of Tests and Standards - United Nations, New York and Geneva).

BUTANOX M-50 VR Safety and handling
Keep the container tightly closed. Store and operate Butanox M-50 VR in a dry and well ventilated area, away from heat or ignition sources, and avoid direct sunlight. It is prohibited to weigh and pack in the storage room.

Avoid contact with reducing agents (such as amines), acids, bases, and heavy metal compounds (such as accelerators, desiccants, and metal soaps).

BUTANOX M-50 VR Packaging and transport

The standard packaging is 20 kilograms of peroxide solution in 30 liter HDPE (Nourycontainer Ò) drums.

Application

Butanox M-50 VR is a general-purpose methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP) that works in conjunction with cobalt accelerators.

It can be used for curing unsaturated polyester resin at room temperature and elevated temperature.

Butanox M-50VR has all the advantages of Butanox M-50, which contains a disappearing red indicator that can observe the uniformity of the mixing between the curing agent and the resin, and the red color will change with the curing process of the resin gradually disappears, and the final product is not colored.

Butanox M-50 VR/cobalt accelerator curing system, especially suitable for gel coat resin, laminated resin curing of varnish and casting resin. And it is compatible with the curing system of benzoyl peroxide/amine accelerator it can be used for the production of light resistant parts.

Years of practical experience have proven that the Butanox M-50 VR has low water content and no polar combination it is very suitable for GRP products, such as in shipbuilding.

At room temperature, Butanox M-50 VR needs to be combined with a cobalt accelerator (Accelerator NL-49P)Use.
