Atlac ® 580 resin based products have high mechanical properties, excellent corrosion resistance, and heat resistance. Atlac ® 580 resin has excellent processing performance, and can obtain high-strength and durable components when combined with carbon fiber, aramid fiber, or glass fiber.

Storage Guidelines
This resin is suitable for storage in a dark and dry place with a temperature between 5 ºC and 30 ºC. The storage period may be shortened at higher temperatures and may lead to changes in resin properties. The storage period of Vinyl ester resin resin containing styrene will be sharply shortened if exposed to light. Therefore, it is only suitable for storage in a dark place and 100% light proof container. Direct sunlight should be avoided.

Note: Reactivity test @ 25 ºC: Add 1.0g of initiator Butanox to 100g of resin separately ® M50 (Nouryon), 1.0g NL63-10P, and 2.5g promoter NL 49P (Nouryon).

Thixotropic property of resin
Atlac ® 580 can be thixotropic using standard polyester with fumed silica Aerosil R 200 and Cab-O-Sil M5 (0.5% -2% by weight of resin). They are mixed into the resin using a high shear stirrer (Cowles type scissor serrated edge plate). To improve the thixotropic effect, it is recommended to use a wetting agent (such as 0.2% Tween 20-ICI of the total resin content). Thixotropic agents are not used in laminated products serving Hypochlorite solutions or fluorine containing chemical environments. In this case, the resin sagging can be minimized only by shortening the gel time as much as possible (controlled within 20-25 minutes). For Wacker HDK 20 or Aerosil R202, BYK R605 can be used as a wetting dispersant.

Weather resistance
Atlac ® 580 has good weather resistance. If it is necessary to use ultraviolet absorbers, add 0.2% by weight of the resin to the laminated resin or 0.2-0.5% by weight of the resin to the topcoat resin. Recommended UV absorbers include Tinuvin 320 ciba Geigy and Cyanosorb UV 5411 cyanamid.

Curing conditions
Add 0.5g of accelerator NL 51P, 0.5g of amine accelerator NL63 10P, and 1.5g of curing agent Butanox M50 to 100g of resin, respectively. Cure at room temperature for 24 hours, then at 100 ºC for 3 hours.

Curing conditions and layup structure of laminated boards	Add 0.5g of accelerator NL 51P, 0.5g of NL63-10P, and 1.5g of curing agent Butanox M50 to 100g of resin. After curing at room temperature for 24 hours, cure at 100 ºC for another 3 hours. The layer of the laminated board I is 4-layer short cut felt CSM (450g/m2); The layup of laminated board II is CSM+WR (square cloth 800g/m2)+CSM+WR+CSM+WR.

Application

Atlac ® 580 is suitable for all manufacturing processes, and is particularly suitable for processes such as winding, centrifugal casting, pultrusion, hand layup, and spraying. Additional styrene can be added to achieve the required viscosity for resin injection molding technology. Atlac ® 580 can also be mixed with glass flakes or mica to produce mortar (putty), flooring, and equipment lining systems. It can be used as a gel coat based resin and a ship lamination resin.
